Bangladeshi sarees have gained immense popularity due to their intricate weaving, fine texture and beautiful motifs. Apart from Jamdani, there are other varieties of Bangladeshi sarees which are also famous worldwide. 1. Dhakai Banarasi Saree



This saree is known for its ornatedzari work with gold and silver threads, over a red silk canvas, a perfect wedding outfit for any Bengali bride. The origin of this Bangladeshi saree is in Banaras, India. The largest hub of Dhakai Banarsi is in Mirpur. These silk sarees are also known for their intricate designs, patterns, vibrant colors and a wide range of options to wear on different occasions. The influence of Mughal designs is evident from the floral and leafy motifs known as ‘kalga’ and ‘bel’ and outer border designs of upright leaves known as ‘jhallar’. Other motifs include jal patterns, human figures, asharfi motifs, stylized dots, animals and flourishing tree- all drawn from nature.

Price range:The cost of these sarees may vary between £196 - £342 and above depending on the work done on saree.

It is one of the finest, elegant and stylish hand-woven work in silk fabric depicting the scenes of mythol;logical folklores. Originally from the Baluchar village of Murshidabad district.

Price range:The Baluchari silk sarees may cost from £195- £350

3. Garad Silk Saree:


This saree is usually worn in Eid festivals, pujas or during any holy occasions. The word “Garad” means white which is the symbol of purity. Garad sarees are identified by their red border and off white body. It comes in tussar or mulberry silk fabric.

Price range: The price varies from £58.68-£391.23. In some cases, the prices may go upto £978.08. It depends on the fabric and work on the saree. 

4. Rajshahi Silk Saree:


The best quality silk is produced in Rajshahi, the only place in Bangladesh. The  Rajshahi silk is very thin and soft and comes in brilliant hues. The work on the fabric is done with stones, karchupi, embroidery etc. For the gorgeous look, this saree is must in every women wardrobe.

5. Tangail Handloom Saree:


Tangail is the district in Bangladesh where huge number of weaver community has been living and weaving this magical saree.

It is only made on handloom in different colors and designs. The saree’s one of the exceptional features is “par” (edge), made with jori or silk yarn.

Tangail handloom saree has many versions like cotton, half-silk, soft-silk, baluchari, cotton Jamdani and twisted cotton.

6. Katan Saree:




The  origin of Katan Saree goes back to Persia and the women from the royal family during the Mughal  c c empire , who were known to wear  royal and luxurious  clothing from katan silk.

Katan silk is a type of silk that is formed by twisting filaments of silk together to create a sturdier and more durable fabric. Due to the nature of its weaving technique, it offers an interesting textured background for any work that is to be done on the fabric to make it outstanding.
